Adriana Cagigas is a Spanish designer and textile researcher who describes herself as a “weaver of ideas”. Her journey intertwines design, craftsmanship, and education, manifesting in projects that foster holistic thinking and enable us to perceive the world from broader perspectives.
“Textiles form the path that defines my journey, undoubtedly the discipline that has deepened my understanding of processes, our relationship with the environment, and our continuous role in its design and creation, whether consciously acknowledged or not. Through textile craftsmanship, and the individuals who have nurtured and preserved these skills, I’ve learned to appreciate the materiality that surrounds us. This has inspired me to develop pedagogical methodologies in design that aim for positive impact.” Adriana
With a background in Fashion Design, Adriana’s interest evolved to encompass the cultural influences of textiles, leading her to specialize in Cultural Economics, Cultural Management, Circular Economy, and sustainable materials and processes. She has found her calling in education, driven by a desire to guide her students in both personal growth and professional development.
Fascinated by ancient Chinese culture, craftsmanship, and symbolism, Adriana pursued studies in Chinese traditional textiles at Nanjing University of Arts in China. Her journey with DEYI德逸 began in 2019, marking a lifelong commitment to integrating ancestral wisdom into contemporary and regenerative design. She firmly believes in the transformative power of designers to contribute meaningfully to a better world through innovative projects like this one.
