This exclusive fabric bears witness to the exceptional craftsmanship of the Miao, Yao and Dong Chinese minorities. After the cotton fabric has been dyed with indigo leaves, the craftsmen glaze it with rice water. They then repeatedly hit the fabric with a wooden handle so that the fiber is impregnated with starch. After drying, the result is surprising: the fabric has a beautiful copper sheen and looks very similar to leather.
In close collaboration with local craftsmen, DEYI 德逸 aims to develop this technique to offer a sustainable alternative to leather.
